A Group of “Friends” of the South Yarmouth Library
The South Yarmouth Library Association, which was established in the Agreement of Association dated April 4, 1908, is a volunteer non-profit organization with a simple mission: to promote and enhance the services of the South Yarmouth Library and to raise funds to provide materials and programs not covered in the library’s operating budget. It encourages gifts, including materials, endowments, bequests and other support and administers funds already left in trust. With this support, the South Yarmouth Library is able to provide programs such as babysitting classes, musical programs, summer reading programs, story hours, yoga classes, and Yarmouth Reads. In addition, the Association funds the Cecelia Siemen Scholarship in the Visual Arts, museum passes, public access computers, library furniture, craft supplies, Staff Day, Volunteer Appreciation Day, and co-sponsors, with West Yarmouth Library Association, the Who-ville Express. Regular fundraising projects include the Little Corner Book Store, library book bags, and the Holiday Cookie Stroll.
All residents and visitors to Yarmouth are invited to join the Association and help the South Yarmouth Library continue to enrich the community. Membership applications are available in the South Yarmouth Library and in other town buildings. You may also print a
from the library website. Tax deductible annual dues are $5 Students & Seniors, $10 Individual, $20 Family, $100 Benefactor or Business/Organization.
Volunteers are encouraged and needed to help in various capacities with the fundraising projects. Please indicate your interest on your membership application or contact us directly.
The Association is governed by a Board of Trustees which functions as the Officers of the Association. The Board meets monthly to conduct the business of the Association, with the Annual Meeting in the fall.
