Higgins Crowell Road Shared Use Path

This on-going Town of Yarmouth project provides a shared use path on the east side of Higgins Crowell Road, in West Yarmouth.  The new path will provide vital connections to the proposed Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT) Phase III, Town recreation bike trails (to be upgraded during the CCRT Phase III Project) and sidewalks, two public schools and Town of Yarmouth Sandy Pond Recreation area. The proposed path will be approximately 10-feet wide, have an asphalt surface, and extend 7,700 linear feet from the Higgins Crowell roundabout to Buck Island Road. The figure below shows the new path and the connecting sidewalk and trail networks.

Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2021 and Phase 2 was completed in 2023.  Phase 3 will be bid in January of 2024, and construction is expected during late winter / spring 2024 and May 2025.  Project Phases are shown in the plan below.   Funding assistance for Phases 1 and 2 was provided by MassTrails, and funding assistance for Phase 3 is being provided by Massachusetts Chapter 90.
