Affordable Housing PROGRAM

The Town of Yarmouth recognizes the need for affordable housing and works to create and preserve affordable housing opportunities for local residents.  In general, housing is said to be affordable if you spend no more than 30% of your income on housing costs, including rent and utilities, mortgage, taxes and condominium fees. 

Affordable housing which qualifies for the Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI) must be subsidized, deed restricted, affirmatively marketed, and serve households earning no more than 80% of the Area Median Income.  Affordable Housing comes in may forms: single-family, multi-family, scattered sites, neighborhoods, duplexes, and condominiums.

NEW! - The Yarmouth Affordable Housing Trust  - Motel Redevelopment Program Update

The Town of Yarmouth Affordable Housing Trust (AHT) is currently reviewing a proposal submitted by Dakota Partners to razed the former Cavalier Motel (881 Route 28, South Yarmouth) and replace with a Low Income Housing Tax Credit residential development.
