Historical Commission Office

The Yarmouth Historical Commission is a town agency charged with the preservation, protection, and development of the historical, cultural, and archaeological Town assets.

The Commission researches and documents places of historic or archaeological value, cooperates with the state archaeologist, and seeks to coordinate the activities of unofficial bodies organized for similar purposes.

The Commission also reviews any demolition and/or significant alteration requests to structures in: the Bass River Historic District and Camp Ground Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places, and structures aged 75 years or older south of Route 6.

The Commission may make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen, Cape Cod Commission, and Commonwealth on the preservation of historic sites.

The Historical Commission meets at 10:00 a.m. in Town Hall on the second Thursday of each month and also via virtual meeting in accordance to COVID 19 procedures.
