What's New in the Assessor's Office?

updated May 23, 2017

The Town of Yarmouth Assessor’s Office, in conjunction with the Collector / Treasurer and Senior Services Departments, will be offering their annual Clause 41C Senior Exemption Workshops. The Senior Exemption is a statutory exemption existing in MA General Laws that offers real estate tax relief for seniors that meet certain age, income and asset thresholds established by law. This year there will be four workshops held on different weekdays at The Town Hall Hearing Room in order to maximize attendance. The dates for the workshops are as follows:

Tuesday, June 27th from 10am to 12pm
Wednesday, June 28th from 10am to 12pm
Thursday, July 6th from 10am to 12pm
Friday, July 14th from 10am to 12pm

The Assessors urge all applicants to try to attend a scheduled workshop. They are quite informative and allow for individual instruction and assistance at the conclusion of each session. If applicants are unable to attend one of the scheduled workshops, they can contact Hilda Davenport, Outreach Coordinator for Yarmouth Senior Services, at 508-394-7606 ext. 1335 to make an appointment for assistance filling out forms. The workshops will consist of a PowerPoint presentation by our own Margie Springer and then staff will assist the applicants with any specific questions they may have and in filling out the necessary forms.  Any questions may be directed to the Town of Yarmouth Assessor’s Office at 508-398-2231 ext. 1221.  Application forms are available on the Town of Yarmouth Assessor’s Office website at www.yarmouth.ma.us.

Applications must be filed with the Assessor's Office annually before April 1st.  All applications are confidential.  Exemptions are granted on an annual basis.

The next Board of Assessors meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 2017.

Residents who live in map 42 in Zone C should expect a cyclical inspection visit before the end of May 2017.  Please check the Cyclical Inspections page for details!
