PROGRAM

The Buy Down program creates affordable homes in established neighborhoods in Yarmouth. The below market prices are currently $139,000 for a two-bedroom home and $149,000 for a three-bedroom home. These homes are deed restricted affordable which keeps the sale price affordable to you and any future buyers.  Learn more by calling Housing Assistance Corporation at 508-771-5400 x 282 or the Town of Yarmouth 508-398-2231 x1275 (TDD 508-398-2231) and ask about the Yarmouth Buy Down program.  

Applicants must meet specified income limits.  For example a family of four may qualify if they earn less than $64,400.  Other eligibility requirements apply.  This is an equal housing opportunity.  Applications are available at Yarmouth Town Hall, Department of Community Development, or click here for the application:

YARMOUTH AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The Town of Yarmouth recognizes the need for affordable housing and works to create and preserve affordable housing opportunities for the local residents. 

Housing is said to be affordable if you spend no more than 30% of your income on housing costs, including rent and utilities, mortgage, taxes and condominium fees. An affordable unit can be a home, a duplex, a condominium or an apartment. Subsidized housing involves financial support to reduce these housing costs to an affordable level. To received a subsidy, a household must be income eligible. These amounts vary depending on the housing program or agency providing the subsidy.

REGIONAL READY RENTERS LIST 
Are you looking for an affordable rental on Cape Cod? If so, the Cape Cod Commission is accepting applications for its Regional Ready Renter List.  The list currently covers the Towns of Yarmouth, Barnstable, Dennis, Chatham, and Harwich.  This list is used when there are available rentals in smaller rental developments, accessory apartments, rentals above retail stores, and other scattered availabilities.

AFFORDABLE ACCESSORY APARTMENT

The Town of Yarmouth through the Board of Appeals permits homeowners to create an apartment in their home provided the unit is rented to either a family relative or an income qualified household.

YARMOUTH SEPTIC REPAIR PROGRAM

This program provides low income families with monetary reimbursement for the cost of septic pumping and loans for failed septic systems.  The program is administered through the Yarmouth Department of Community Development and the Health Department.

BARNSTABLE COUNTY SEPTIC REPAIR PROGRAM
Financial help with a betterment loan is now available through the Community Septic Management Program. Home owners can now comply with Title 5 regulations. Loans, repayable over 20 years, cover all costs associated with the septic system upgrade.
