The Health Division enforces local and State regulations and bylaws that protect the health and safety of the citizens and the environment. The Division issues licenses / permits including, but not limited to:
- Septic systems
- Food service
- Hazardous materials handling
- Lodging establishments
- Rental properties
The Division has other responsibilities including:
- Maintaining statistics
- Setting up educational seminars
- Conducting various health clinics
- Establishing policies to protect the health and safety of the community
- Developing regulations
- Reviewing and approving variances related to same

POTASSIUM IODIDE (KI) PILLS AVAILABLE
The Yarmouth Health Division Office continues to offer potassium iodide (KI) tablets to residents. The tablets are meant to counteract the effects of radiation, in case a problem occurs at the Pilgrim Nuclear Plant in Plymouth. Two tablets are available per person.

2012 HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS COLLECTION
A Household Hazardous Products Collection for Yarmouth residents is scheduled for Saturday, July 28 from 9:00 AM to noon at the Yarmouth Senior Center located at 528 Forest Rd. in West Yarmouth.

Materials that ARE NOT accepted at hazardous waste collections:
Old latex paint should be dried out before being disposed of in household trash. If there is more than will dry out cat litter can be used for absorbing latex paint.
The Yarmouth Residential Drop-Off Area at 600 Forest Rd. will accept on a daily basis:
- Motor oil (up to 2 gallons per person per day) - oil tank
- Antifreeze - antifreeze tank
- Batteries (dry cell, nickel cadmium) - please see gate house attendant
- Fluorescent bulbs - please see gate house attendant
Mercury containing devices are accepted, but can also be recycled daily at the Residential Drop-Off Area - please see gate house attendant.
Sun Safety Awareness
For 2011 the Barnstable County/MRC Sun Safety Program will be held: Thursday, July 21 at Bass River Beach (aka Smuggler's Beach), and Tuesday, August 2 at Seagull Beach.
