Residential Underground Storage Tank (RUST) 0% Loan Program

0% loan assistance is available for removal and replacement of residential underground storage tanks and fuel lines for home heating fuel.

Household Hazardous Waste Collections

2023 Household Hazardous Waste Collections for Yarmouth residents and homeowners have been scheduled for Saturday, July 15 and Saturday, October 7 both from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Yarmouth Senior Center, 528 Forest Rd. West Yarmouth. Please click here for detailed information.
 

Small businesses must first contact the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension to arrange to participate at a cost. SOME ITEMS DO NOT NEED TO BE DISPOSED AT A HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS COLLECTION - Please be aware of disposal procedures for the following items.


 Materials that ARE NOT accepted at hazardous waste collections:

Old latex paint should be dried out before being disposed of in household trash. If there is more than will dry out cat litter can be used for absorbing latex paint.


The Yarmouth Residential Drop-Off Area at 600 Forest Rd. will accept on a daily basis:

  • Motor oil (up to 2 gallons per person per day) - oil tank
  • Antifreeze - antifreeze tank
  • Batteries (dry cell, nickel cadmium) - please see gate house attendant
  • Fluorescent bulbs - please see gate house attendant
  • Empty aerosol cans - in the co-mingled roll-off.

Mercury containing devices are accepted at Household Hazardous Products Collections, but can also be recycled daily at the Residential Drop-Off Area - please see the gate house attendant.

YARMOUTH POLICE PRESCRIPTION DRUG AND SYRINGE DISPOSAL


The Yarmouth Police Department, located off of Higgins Crowell Road at One Brad Erickson Way in West Yarmouth has a permanent, secure drop off box for unwanted prescription medications.

Mercury Management Guidance

The disposal of mercury-containing products in the general trash is prohibited by law. The Town Disposal Area at 600 Forest Rd. accepts mercury-containing products for recycling. Please see the gatehouse attendant.
