Hello Yarmouth Residents.
This is Bruce Murphy, Director of Health with a very important public health update about the coronavirus pandemic.
In Barnstable County there has been 1,119 positive cases.
In the Town of Yarmouth there has been 107 positive cases, 2 deaths, with 36 active cases, there have been 69 recovered cases. This data is posted daily on the town’s web site.
Last Wednesday Governor Baker ordered Facemasks or cloth face coverings in public places when social distancing is not possible. This applies to both indoor and outdoor places. Exceptions include children under the age of 2 and those unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition.
Last Thursday the Governor opened up MA golf courses with conditions. The town’s plan to reopen the golf courses was reviewed by myself and was determined to meet all the Governors conditions.
We now wait to Monday May 18, when the Governor will announce the opening of more business and beaches. The Health Dept. staff will be available to assist business with their opening plans in address the Governors conditions along with conducting opening inspections.
This Monday night the Board of Health will discuss opening the Beaches based on the Governors conditions to be released Monday. Town Departments are currently working on a plan to operate the beaches per the Governors Conditions.
The Yarmouth community mask program encourages people to make their own mask and also provide them to their neighbors. If you would like to assistance in making mask call the Senior Center of Health Dept. The community mask program provides masks on a priority basis. The masks will be provided to people and families in Isolation and Quarantine, seniors, first responders, health care providers, and then other town residents
