From the Director:It just can’t be September already! Someone must explain to me why the summer months fly by so quickly, but other months seem to stand still at times. We have had a nice and busy summer once curbside deliveries and statewide deliveries started up again. The staff has been on the phone with lots of happy residents who are now able to resume their library reading, printing, and getting copies made. We should be close to re-opening our doors on a limited basis in September. We will be asking you to keep visits to 15 minutes or less, and we will need to limit the number of individuals in the buildings, to allow for proper physical distancing. You might notice that we have removed most of the seating and spaced our public computers at least 6 feet apart. We are getting back to a “new normal” as each day passes by. -Jane Cain Library Director

When You Grow up to Vote: How Our Government Works for You by Eleanor RooseveltEleanor Roosevelt's book for young people on citizenship, originally published in 1932, is now revised and updated for a contemporary audience. In the voice of one of the most iconic and beloved political figures of the 20th century comes a book on citizenship for the future voters of the 21st. The new edition has updated information and fresh, bold art from award-winning artist Grace Lin. Beginning with government workers like firefighters and garbage collectors, and moving up through local government to the national stage, this book explains that the people in government work for the voter. Fresh, contemporary, and even fun, When You Grow Up to Vote is the book parents and teachers need when talking to children about how our government is designed to work.

From well-known figures, such as Susan B. Anthony and Sojourner Truth, to lesser known women such as Alice Paul and Mary Church Terrell, these are heroes who dreamed big and never gave up.
