From the Director:Hi, all, and happy November. Now, we’ll just have the memories of warm and sunny days for a while, although the colorful leaves help to get our heads ready for cold days to come. It’s a quiet time of year on Cape Cod, and especially quiet this year as we rejigger our holiday plans and think about creative ways to visit with family and friends to express our gratitude and joy of living. At the Library, we have been happy to see our library visitors in person again – and we are optimistic that Yarmouth and the neighboring Cape Cod towns will survive a challenging winter into spring with no coronavirus surprises. Wash your hands; wear a mask; don’t touch your face, and keep a safe distance between yourselves and others. But, you knew that. -Jane Cain Library Director

The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the BlitzBy Erik LarsonOn Winston Churchill's first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally--and willing to fight to the end.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall"Luc has to find a nice, normal relationship, and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come..." What seems like it will be a trope-heavy, fake-dating-to-real-love story is actually one of the most original British rom-coms in a very long time. Wry, witty dialogue reminiscent of P.G. Wodehouse with none of the tedious, manufactured drama of many romance novels makes this one of the top-rated books of the year by Publishers Weekly and Goodreads and a surprisingly delightful insight into modern relationships.
