From the Director:Happy winter solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, and New Year 2023! It has been quite a week, a month, a year. We thank everyone who has dropped off goodies for staff in appreciation over the past few weeks as the year came to a close. Everyone here has certainly had their choice of sweet decadence for the season. We are wrapping up the year and looking forward to greatness in the months and years ahead. My thanks to our hard-working, friendly, and cooperative library staff and wishes for peace, happiness, and success in the future. -Jane Cain Library Director

The Gestapo considered her the most dangerous of all Allied spies.

Congratulations, Rebecca! With the recent promotion of Mindy Herington to Youth Services Supervisor, the position of Youth Services Library Assistant/Staff Librarian became available. After posting the position in town and throughout the CLAMS network, we determined that our best option was to hire internally, again, and we promoted Rebecca Goode. She has been with the Library since late 2019, and has proven to be a creative, smart, proactive, and engaging library professional. Please join me in welcoming Rebecca to this new level of involvement and responsibility. She will be focusing on Teen Services in her new role and we are delighted.

The Library Planning Committee Seeks New MembersThe Library Planning Committee (LPC) is looking for new members. The group typically meets monthly. We are currently working on a Request for Proposals (RFP) with our Town Administration, for consultation on community input sessions, surveying and garnering additional information from the public regarding what is important to you about the library – what you wish for, and how we can satisfy community needs and wants in your library: good information sharing, community gatherings, reading, learning and growing strong together. If you are interested in the LPC, please stop by and visit Library Director Jane Cain at the South Yarmouth Library, or call her: 508-760-4820, ext. 1312.
