Happy Birthday, Shrek! This year the cinematic classic Shrek turns 22 and we are celebrating with an interactive movie viewing of the first Shrek film! We will have special Shrek character headband crafts and Shrek-themed snacks! Please register each participant to ensure proper supplies are available! Shrek is rated PG. Discover the art of self-expression to create your own Mandala. Using brightly colored rice, you can create art composed of geometric patterns and symbols. Recommended for ages 8+. Children under the age of 8 must come with an adult.

Experience contemporary and classic short stories read by local Cape Cod actors. No registration is required, but come early for a good seat at the West Yarmouth Library. This program is coordinated by Toby Wilson. No signup required. Bring a friend or neighbor. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.  NOTE: This program is on Sunday.

Youth Services Spring Cleaning

Starting Sunday, April 23 - 30

Spring is in the air. The air is a little fresher, the days a little brighter. It’s time for spring cleaning. The South Yarmouth Library Children’s Room will be closed Sunday, April 23 through Sunday, April 30 so that the room can get freshened up with a new coat of paint. We'll have a selection of picture books and juvenile fiction available on the main floor of South Yarmouth Library while the work is being done. We thank the South Yarmouth Library Association for funding this needed update.

Author Talk: Gil Newton

Sunday, April 30, 2:00 p.m. 

Local ecologist and author, Gil Newton, has authored several books on the marine life and ecology of the Cape. Discover the fascinating diversity of life at the edge of the sea. Some of his titles include Discovering the Cape Cod Shoreline and Activities for the Cape Cod Beachcomber. This will be an in-person program at the South Yarmouth Library. No registration required.

Switch from Overdrive 

to Libby by May 1

Starting Monday, May 1, the Overdrive app will no longer be functional, and users will be prompted to switch to the Libby app to borrow downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines.

 

The Libby app is easy to use and offers greater functionality than the Overdrive app. Your borrowed titles and holds will transfer to the Libby app. To switch to Libby, follow the instructions on the user website at www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/switchtolibby 

 

If you have difficulty with this change, call the Library at (508) 760-4820 or stop by and we will help you through it.
