Fine Forgiveness and
Patron Appreciation
February 2018

Final Week! Bring your overdue items to the Yarmouth Town Libraries, along with a donation to the Yarmouth Food Pantry, from now until February 28, and we will forgive your fines. This applies to overdue fines only, and does not cover lost materials.

The Pantry is always in need of paper products, laundry and dish washing soap, cleaning supplies and food storage wraps or baggies. We will accept
donations at the South Yarmouth or West Yarmouth Library locations during the month of February.

2018 Cecelia Siemen Scholarship
Open for Applications

The South Yarmouth Library Association offers the Cecelia Siemen Scholarship in the Visual Arts annually. The $3,000 award advances the study and knowledge of someone in the visual arts. To be eligible, applicants must have completed one academic year at a college or art institute by the end of the school year in which the scholarship is offered.

Applications are available now at the South Yarmouth Library or from the website. See www.yarmouthlibraries.org for the link to download an application on the home page. Applications include the completed form, course work transcripts, three (3) letters of recommendation, a portfolio, and personal statement.  Applications to the South Yarmouth Library Association are due April 30, 2018. Sock Drive for Yarmouth Reads

As part of our Yarmouth Reads 2018 we are coordinating a sock drive. Bring in a new pair of socks – any size – to either the South Yarmouth or West Yarmouth Library and a volunteer will distribute them as needed from February through April this year. A great community project.

John Basile and Cape Cod Jazz

Join us for this rousing review of "Cape Cod Jazz: from Colombo to The Columns." Yarmouth author and Managing Editor of the Register newspaper, John Basile, will highlight the popular artists in the history of jazz on Cape Cod. Sponsored by the South Yarmouth Library Association. Refreshments will be provided; reservations recommended.

Yarmouth Reads 2018
Learn to Decorate
a Ukrainian Pysanka Egg

Wednesday, February 28, 1:00 p.m.
South Yarmouth Library

This class is full. Learn to decorate Ukrainian Easter Eggs using beeswax and a special stylus, sometimes called a kistka. After several stages of drawing and dying, the wax is melted off to reveal the design underneath.

Year of the Dog Photo Display

Chinese New Year began February 16. 2018 is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese zodiac. Bring in a photo of your favorite pet to the South Yarmouth Library, to add to a special exhibit to celebrate the Year of the Dog with the Yarmouth Town Libraries. Stop by the Children’s Room for details.

We welcome photos of ALL furry friends to celebrate the happiness they bring into our lives. Photos will be displayed through March 15 in the Children’s Room at South Yarmouth Library and will be returned to the owner.
Please Note: Photos should be at least 4x6 inches, but not larger than 8x10 inches. Limit photos to pets only. Fill out an "All About My Pet" form, available in the Children’s Room. Encourage your friends and neighbors to participate. SHARE THE LOVE!

No Sew Fleece Projects
