Programs this week at the Yarmouth Town Libraries

SWL

Two Openings on the Town Library Board

The Town Library Board has two openings. The Board supports the Library and advises the Yarmouth Board of Selectmen on Library issues and policies. If you are interested in getting involved in this advocacy group, stop by and meet the Director, Jane Cain, or call the Library at 508-760-4820. The Town of Yarmouth asks for a Talent Bank application available on the Town website. You can also find out when the next Board meeting is, and plan to attend.

Sock Drive for Yarmouth Reads

As part of Yarmouth Reads 2018, we are coordinating a sock drive. Bring in a new pair of socks – any size – to either the South Yarmouth or West Yarmouth Library and a volunteer will distribute them as needed from February through April this year. A great community project.

Yarmouth Reads 2018
The Soviet Transformation
Leaks into the Metropol

With Professor Emeritus Christopher Buck
Sunday, March 11, 2:00 p.m.
South Yarmouth Library

Chris Buck was assigned to serve in West Berlin as a Russian linguist during his time in the Army. He then studied at the Free University of Berlin and Yale University, earning a doctorate in Russian literature. He has traveled extensively to the Soviet Union, including St. Petersburg and Moscow. He has taught Russian and German at the University of Minnesota and at Oberlin College.

He read A Gentleman in Moscow and loved the book (of course.) Join us, as he reviews what life was like in Russia during the decades that Count Rostov was under house arrest in the lovely Metropol Hotel. You will learn a lot. Reservations recommended. Please call the Library at 508-760-4820 or stop by to sign up, as this should be a popular program.
