Have You Been to
the Little Corner Bookstore
at the South Yarmouth Library?

The South Yarmouth Library Association organizes a great ongoing book sale in the northwest corner of the main floor – over near the newspaper and magazine area. They accept donations of gently used books for all ages – in good condition, and free from must and mold. Most items are $1.00 or less. With proceeds from the sale of these books, SYLA funds many programs at the library, provides a number of museum passes for free or reduced entrance to many places of learning, and contributes to staff and community events – the “icing on the cake,” here at the library.  It is open whenever the South Yarmouth Library is open, and you pay at the front desk. Come browse the Little Corner Bookstore.

At the West Yarmouth Library, there is an ongoing book sale, too, on the shelves near the front door. An affordable way to make sure you always have something to read and a great way to support the library.

Yarmouth Bag Ban
to Take Effect August 30

The Town of Yarmouth's plastic bag ban, passed by voters at the May 2017 town meeting, goes into effect on August 30, 2018. Retailers will no longer be able to distribute thin-ply plastic bags, although some exceptions apply. The town encourages use of reusable bags as an environmentally-friendly alternative. The town's decision, based on environmental concerns, was in line with bag bans passed in most of the 15 Cape towns. Statewide, such laws have been passed in 80 cities and towns, including Boston.

Plastic bags exempt from the ban include those used for newspaper delivery and those used to wrap frozen or damp items such as meat or fish. For more information visit: https://www.yarmouth.ma.us/DocumentCenter/View/8886/121217-Chapter-160-Plastic-Bag-Reduction-By-Law-FAQ-?bidId=.
